Step-by-Step Reconstitution Process

Follow each step precisely to preserve peptide integrity and ensure a safe, sterile preparation.

  1. Gather supplies. Collect your lyophilized peptide vial, the appropriate reconstitution solution, a sterile syringe, and alcohol swabs. Confirm your solution type matches the peptide being reconstituted before proceeding.
  2. Clean & prep. Wipe the rubber stoppers of both the peptide vial and the solution vial thoroughly with alcohol swabs. Allow them to air-dry completely before inserting any needle to maintain sterility.
  3. Draw the reconstitution solution. Using a sterile syringe, draw the appropriate volume of reconstitution solution by holding the vial upside down and allowing gravity to assist. Standard peptide vials can take a maximum of 3 mL.
  4. Inject slowly along the vial wall. Insert the needle into the peptide vial and direct the stream of solution slowly along the inner glass wall — never directly onto the lyophilized cake. This prevents foaming and peptide degradation from mechanical shearing.
  5. Gently swirl — do not shake. Gently roll or swirl the vial between your fingers until the powder is fully dissolved. Never shake the vial. Shaking introduces air bubbles and can break peptide bonds, compromising potency.
  6. Inspect & store. The reconstituted solution should appear clear to slightly opalescent with no visible particles or cloudiness (exception: no-sting water may appear slightly less clear due to glycerol — see solution guide below). Store per peptide-specific instructions, typically refrigerated at 36–46°F.

Choosing the Right Reconstitution Solution

Selecting the correct reconstitution solution is one of the most important decisions in peptide preparation. Using the wrong solution can permanently degrade or ruin your peptide. Review each option carefully before proceeding.

The "bacteriostatic" quality of reconstitution solutions is not to keep the peptide user free of bacteria. It is for the peptide, so it does not get degraded by any bacteria. It's a preservative ensuring the peptide stays at its max efficacy.

Sterile Water

Single-use only. Contains no preservative. Once reconstituted, the entire vial must be used in a single injection session. Not suitable for multi-dose vials.

Bacteriostatic Water (0.9% Benzyl Alcohol)

The standard go-to solution for the vast majority of peptides. Benzyl alcohol acts as a preservative, allowing multi-dose use over an extended period.

"AOD Water" (Acetic Acid + Benzyl Alcohol + Glycerol)

Proprietary formula — use ONLY with AOD-9604 and SLU-PP-332. This specialized solution is formulated specifically for peptides that are incompatible with standard bacteriostatic water.

"No Sting Water" (NaCl + Glycerol + Benzyl Alcohol)

Proprietary formula designed to significantly reduce injection-site discomfort for peptides known to cause stinging. Appearance may be slightly less crystal-clear due to glycerol — this is normal, provided there is no cloudiness or floating particles.

⚠ Critical reminder

AOD Water and No Sting Water are proprietary formulas. Never substitute one solution for another based on appearance alone. When in doubt, default to standard Bacteriostatic Water — unless your peptide is AOD-9604 or SLU-PP-332, which require AOD Water exclusively.

Solution Quick-Reference Table

Use Bacteriostatic Water for

BPC-157, TB-500, CJC-1295, Ipamorelin, Tesamorelin, Sermorelin, MOTS-c, Epitalon, Thymosin Alpha-1, Selank, Semax, Oxytocin, PT-141, Melanotan, and most peptides not listed elsewhere.

Use AOD Water for

AOD-9604 and SLU-PP-332 only. These hydrophobic peptides require acetic acid to dissolve fully and remain stable.

Use No Sting Water for

NAD+, GHK-Cu, GLOW blend, KLOW blend, and any peptide where injection-site burning is a problem. Compatible with most peptides except AOD-9604 and SLU-PP-332.

Use Sterile Water for

One-time, single-vial injections only — when the entire reconstituted vial will be used immediately. Not appropriate for multi-dose protocols.

After Reconstitution: Storage Best Practices

Common Reconstitution Mistakes to Avoid

  1. Shaking the vial. Will damage peptide bonds. Always swirl gently.
  2. Injecting the diluent directly onto the cake. Causes foaming and shear damage. Aim down the vial wall.
  3. Using bac water with AOD-9604 or SLU-PP-332. Will cause gelling and ruin the peptide.
  4. Using AOD water with anything else. The acetic acid will degrade non-hydrophobic peptides.
  5. Skipping the alcohol swab. Introduces contamination, especially in multi-dose vials.
  6. Freezing reconstituted peptide. Permanent damage from ice crystal formation.
  7. Reconstituting too far in advance. Plan around the peptide's stability window.
