Summary
A peptide certificate of analysis may print a test date, analysis date, or similar date field for the lot on file. Inventory practice: after matching the vial lot to the library, copy the printed date into your notes. Do not invent a test date from memory, another lot, or a catalog page. A printed test date is not automatically a stability, expiry, or “use by” claim unless the matching report separately prints that language.
Why the test date matters (and what it is not)
| Printed field | Inventory use | What it is not |
|---|---|---|
| Test / analysis date (when printed) | Copy into lot notes for the matching certificate | Not inventable if blank; not automatically an expiry |
| Expiry / retest / shelf-life (only if printed) | Copy only the printed string | Do not invent from the test date alone |
| Blank date cell | Omit (document-or-delete) | Do not fill from another lot or “today” |
Field-by-field reading still follows Academy 04 (How to Read a Peptide Certificate of Analysis). Lot matching is Academy 09 (Matching Lot Numbers: From Vial Label to the COA Library). Blank fields stay blank (Academy 12).
The copy-only rule
- Match lot on the vial to the COA library row (Academy 09).
- Confirm product name and strength on the report match the vial (lot-specific strength match literacy: Academy 14 when useful).
- Locate the printed test date / analysis date (or equivalent label on that report).
- Copy the printed date string into inventory notes as printed.
- If the date field is blank, unreadable, or “Unknown,” omit it — do not invent (Academy 12).
Test date vs expiry / retest (literacy)
| Situation | Inventory action |
|---|---|
| Test date printed; no expiry / retest line | Copy test date only; do not invent expiry from it |
| Expiry or retest printed separately | Copy that printed string separately; do not merge labels |
| Only a report “issue” or “print” date (no test date) | Copy the printed label as-named; do not relabel it “test date” unless the report says so |
| Date on a different lot’s COA | Do not copy — wrong lot |
| VERIFY / hub row missing date | Leave blank until matching lot report prints it |
What you still must not invent
- Do not invent a test date to make a hub row look complete.
- Do not borrow another lot’s date onto this vial.
- Do not upgrade a blank date from Spec Sheet or catalog copy.
- Do not claim shelf-life, stability duration, or “good until” from a test date alone.
- Do not invent purity, method, lab, or lot to accompany the date.
How to log a test-date filing
- Read vial lot (and name / strength).
- Open the matching library certificate (Academy 09).
- Copy printed test / analysis date if present; omit if blank (Academy 12).
- If an expiry / retest line is separately printed, copy it as its own field — still no invention.
- Keep the certificate with the lot record; request a matching report through store support with order number + vial lot if none is on file — still do not invent dates while waiting.
